Depression
Depression is often described as feeling sad, but sadness is not true depression. Sadness is a state of feeling low and usually passes rather quickly like many emotions. Depression is something that sticks around for a lot longer. People often describe this as feeing “stuck” because it is not fleeting. Together we can work on identifying, measuring, and ways to combat depression and depressive thinking. There is usually an ebb and flow to depression and our work is to identify this movement and find ways to manage it. Whether this is something new for you or if you’ve struggled for a long time, let’s tackle this together.
Anxiety
If feeling overwhelmed has become a regular experience or happening more frequently than you’d like, maybe it’s not just overwhelmed but something more systemic for you. Thinking about everything you have going on becomes scary, and you avoid it because overwhelm is sure to follow. So, you keep your head down and go through the motions, trying to ignore how unhappy and unfulfilled you feel. Living a rich and meaningful life might seem out of reach. But what if we could work together to slow down, examine your values, and learn techniques, skills, and exercises to help you identify and take steps towards what is meaningful to you?
Grief/Loss
Losing someone or something dear to us is usually a process we go through. It starts with finding out or realizing the loss and depending on how you process it, ends with acceptance of some sort. Complicating the process is that it is not linear. What I offer in therapy is hearing your story, where are you in the process? Are you stuck? I can offer many techniques, ideas, and knowledge to make sure you are moving along the processing in a healthy way. Avoiding a complicated grief process is our goal. We will all go through this. No one escapes loss. So, why not make sure you’re moving through your process/journey with someone who can help guide you through.
Women
Being a woman in our society brings about a variety of issues. There are stressors for women that differ from men and often are overlooked by society. This can be anything from being a teen to marriage, parenting, work, family, friends, and aging. Maybe it’s time to take a look at how these stressors are affecting your life and what you can do to make this the life you want to live, not the one society tells you to live.
